Enjoy the solitude of the secluded mountain environment with high average sunshine hours and low rain fall, and occasional snow falls in winter.
For the more adventurous types there is a variety of outdoor activities to choose from. Five ski fields are located within 30 minutes of the Hotel and numerous well-marked walks and tramps wind through mountain beech forests and open snow tussock lands. There is excellent hunting, river and lake fishing and kayak tours of the Waimakariri River are sometimes available.
